Student self Made Videos

Students wrote a first person historical essay about being an early human. They then recorded themselves reading their essay then uploaded the recording into the Ancient Civilizations Power Point as a slide. They did a fantastic job! Thanks Ms. Johnson for the great lesson on how to use the cameras!

FIRE Unit

Students are learning, "How the harnasing of fire changed life for the Early Humans". We partook in many activities that involved fire. For example students became experts in how fire helped Early Humans in their survival. Students created their information on a paper in their own words, then put it on the "fire stick" and shared it with their group.

Early Humans Cave Art

We used real charcoal to create images that early humans made on "caves". Students did an great job capturing realistic looking animal and hunting images. Well done students!

Early Humans Board Game Day!

Students did an outstanding job creating board games in the theme of Early Humans. Students then played their games with other students in the school that are studying Early Humans. After the game playing students reflecting on what went well and what could be done to make it better for next time. The board games are on display in room B9 for Back to School Night...

Young Archaeologists in Action

Our first adventure. Students did an amazing job decoding clues around the school to find the final destination which was a Archaeological Dig in class (searching through sand to find artifacts... Lego's). From the findings students put together the Lego's into Early Human tools and wrote out how they can be used to help the early humans.

Our First Young Archaeologist Discovery

Young Archeologist Discovery Project:

Early Humans Tools...

After each unit of study of an Ancient Civilization students will participate in our Young Archaeologists Discovery Project. Our first one will be during the third week of September. Working in small groups, students will be decoding clues posted around the school campus. The final destination requires students to conduct an archeological dig. Students will put together the contents of the dig into a symbol that relates to our study of Early Humans. Check out our blog to see pictures of this exciting activity.
