The Egypt Game

Using the theme of Ancient Egypt, students created a board game of their own to review the main concepts covered in class from their Ancient Civilizations power point. Students were asked to create a game with various types of questions (facts as well as higher order, open ended questions). Once the games are made, students will play them with their family as well as classmates. Fun!

A Brochure of Ancient Egypt!

Students summarized the main concepts of Ancient Egypt using MS Publisher. The final product turned out to be very informative and creative. Students then uploaded their brochure onto their Thinkquest page.

Young Archeologists Tour of Egypt!

Students took a mini tour of Egypt in our class today. Students were put into groups of six and spent 19 minutes at each of the five "Egyptian Centers".
Center 1: Building a pyramid using large blocks and Legos
Center 2: Researching Egyptian Gods and giving them a report card on their characteristics
Center 3: Creating an acrostic poem about EGYPT using words, pictures and color (figurative language and sensory detail as well)
Center 4: Writing their names in hieroglyphics
Center 5: Creating an Egyptian symbol using play doh

 Using play doh to create a symbol of something Ancient Egypt then taking a picutre of it and uploading it into their Ancient Civilizations powerpoint

Writing an Acrostic Poem about Ancient Egypt using figurative language and sensory detail

 Researching Egyptian Gods and making judgements

 Looking up how to write our names in hieroglyphics, then writing it on paper

Life as an Ancient Egyptian

Students researched what life was like for an Ancient Egyptian. Then they choose a social class and wrote a Historical First Person Narrative as that person. The essays turned out to be three or more paragraphs long. Students then uploaded their essay and recorded themselves reading their essay into a slide in their Ancient Civilizations Powerpoint. Finally students posted their essay on Thinkquest in a message board for others to read. Super job kids! If you are a parent of one of this Champion students ask to see their essay in Thinkquest!

               Greetings! My name is Joseph and My parents are Joe and Josephine. My dad is the Pharaoh, so my family and I are royalty. For fun we spin our gold plated tops, and making leather balls out of the highest quality leather and cotton. Oh, and I like bossing around my personal servant.
              My palace is made of marble as white as snow, and the hierglyphics are painted by the chief scribes. They tell stories of Ra gliding down the Nile in his Sun boat, or Set nailing Osiris into his coffin. The palace overlooks the Nile where you see the reeds flowing with the current, and I also hear the whipping of the wind.  If you walk closer to the Nile, you can smell the Lotus flower blooming in the Spring.
        My father, Joe, had a mother named Cleopatra. You may have heard of her. She is the best grandma ever! Imagine having Christmas every day. Now imagine these presents being plated in gold or silver and smelling like lavender. See what I’m saying? Plus, you know how your grandma’s kisses are all sloppy and wet?

The Three Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt

How did we learn about the three kingdoms? First we made a fold-out using construction paper. Then we researched and read about the three Kingdoms. Next we wrote our notes about each Kingdom on our fold outs. Then we debated and concluded which Kingdom we would have wanted to live in had we been alive during that time. Students then added notes to their Ancient Civilizations Powerpoint and took a picture of their fold-out.
