Story Time

After reading some well known fables, student tried writing their own. Today we read them to other students at DATA. Students did an amazing job!

Live Your Dreams...

Today we had Chris Figuereida join us for an inspirational talk about how to live your dreams and give back at the same time. We learned that he always wanted to hike the tallest mountains and bike across the world. He figured out a way to do it (by supporting himself making cool products for movies). Chris is an inspiration to us all!

Amazing Guest Speaker

We were so lucky to have Dr. Alison Shuman, ER Doctor, join our AVID students about her increadable job of saving lives. The 45 minute talk had the students spellbound.

Below, showing the students how to give CPR to a baby.

I am sure she inspired some of these students to consider being a doctor just like her!

Game Day

Today two outstanding students taught us how to play Dreidal. Students had fun, got along.... and learned a great game.

Dead Sea Scrolls

Today we learned the importance of the Dead Sea Scrolls, then made our own using interesting facts we have learned the past few months. Well done kids!

Ancient Civ. Standard 6.6.3

Today we focused on standard 6.3.3 "explaining the significance of Abraham, Mosis, Naomi, Ruth, David, and Yohanan in the development of the Jewish religion". Students got in pairs and chose an ancient person to focus on. Then the researched the person and created a way to present the information to the class. We had skits, short movies, rap songs, and awesome posters for our presentations to the class!

Students preparing their presentation

First, students shared in a group of five. Then the group chose one to share with the entire class. While students were sharing, students were "chatting" in a blog using Dy'Know. The "chat" guidlines were to write something they liked about their classmates presentations.

Posters with a summary of the information...

 A Windows Live Movie...
 Acrostic Poem...
 A Summary...
 A song....

Amazing Students and Teacher!

Great job to our young Venture Capitalists who made DATA Middle School so proud! A super huge shot out to Mr. Wulff who always guides the students to the very highest level of learning!

On November 29th 2012, City Hall (Community Meeting Room) will be hosted a New Venture Competition. Any student could have entered the competition.  The format was for each student to give a three minute presentation describing the business idea, opportunity and solution.  The winners received a cash prize from the community. (aprox $300-500)

Guess who won!?
