Egyptian Trade (6.2.6)
After reading about and watching a short video on Egyptian trade, students found images that related to what was traded. Then they put the images into "Windows Live Movie Maker". For each slide students added a caption describing the image of trade in a "figurative language way". Once the movies were made, students shared their work in small groups.
Finally the students added their "movie" into the Ancient Civilization PowerPoint.

More on Egypt (standard 6.2.3)
Today we investigated Ancient Egyptians standard 6.2.3. Students were able to research the various Egyptian gods (http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/gods/explore/main.html). Then they chose one to recreate using a Lego dude. After making their "god" they created a word bubble of what figurative language phrase the god would say. Next, they took a picture of it and added it to their Ancient Civilization power point. Finally they wrote a fictional narrative with all the elements of plot centered around their "god".

Here is one example of a students amazing story:
Ra, My fictional Story
Ra is the sun god, He gets to enjoy
the beautiful lush Green rivers and flowing Nile during the day, But at night he is swallowed up by nut and forced
into the underworld. The underworld is dark and cold, and Ra wished more than
anything that he could enjoy the night ,like every other god. All the gods
bragged about the beautiful nights and the full bright moon. They bragged about
the huge parties that were held for only Gods. And here was Ra trapped in the
Underworld listening to the parties the gods were hosting in The beautiful
world above. And Ra was a god so he
should get to go, But the mean gods made him stay in the underworld. Ra has
heard that there is ways out of the underworld, but with Nut constantly
Guarding the sky making sure no one could get out of the Underworld, Especially
Ra, it is impossible.
Ra
Decided that he needed to get out of the underworld so he makes a plan, he is
going to run from Nut and try and Trick her into going into the Underworld.
When it was time to put his plan into action, he ran around every where during
the day, not letting Nut catch him, but eventually she did. Huff, exsosted from
his run, he made a new plan, He was going to disguise himself as Sobek the Nile
God, who held the parties, but once again his plan didn’t work, she found him
and asked him a code, when he didn’t Know it she knew he was an imposter. How
was he supposed to Know that every god had a secret code. That was another
thing the rest of the gods kept from him. On his last plan he decided to learn
how to disguise himself as the Moon, his plan went just as planned for the
first time, She saw the moon god and thought that ra had given up and went to
the Underworld by himself. But just to be sure she went in the underworld to
look for him, As soon as she did that Ra locked the door to the underworld, and
She couldn’t get out.
That night Ra went to the Party, and it turned
out That the gods were glad he came to the party, and Nut was the one that
didn’t want Ra coming. Ra had so much fun and the next morning Ra rose into the
sky happy and proud of himself, That he had tricked Mean old nut. And the Evil
Nut was trapped in the underworld forever.
That is Why The Sun moves across
the sky everyday, a then turns into the Moon at night.

Our Egyptian Cinderella Play
Today students read the ancient fable "The Egyptian Cinderella". Next students, in small groups, chose a part of the story to act out for the class.

Young Venture Capitolists
Our students are creating a buisness idea and presenting their ideas to a panel. Mr. Anderson, a local businessperson, spent some time with our students going over what will make an effective plan.
Thanks Mr. Anderson!
